Windows XPからPuttyでFreeBSD5.3にログインしたいんですが、
うまくいかないので、アドバイスをお願いします。
Puttyは、 http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html にある
For Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 and XP on Intel x86
PuTTY: putty.exe

をダウンロードしたものです。

↓このページを参考にFreeBSD5.3の設定をしました。
/etc/rc.conf
sshd_enable="YES"
を追加し、
/etc/ssh/sshd_config
Protocol 2,1
PasswordAuthentication yes
と変更しました。

FreeBSD(192.168.0.5) を再起動して、Windows(192.168.0.2)のPuttyからログインしようとすると、
Jan 20 20:40:00 hostname sshd[509]: error: PAM: authenticaton error for root from 192.168.0.2
とエラーが出ます。どうすれば、うまくログインできますか？
