仮に Illumos が力不足という前提で考えても、Solaris リリース後に出てくる
ソースを使って後追いはできるし、そういう形であっても Oracle に
高い金払いたくない人のための選択肢として役目は果たせる。

それはさておき、確かに技術者の人数としては Illumos に参加してるのはまだ少なく、
Oracle に残ってる Solaris 技術者の方がずっと多い。ただ、革新的な技術は
多数の平凡な人間より少数の優秀な人間によってもたらされるからな。
その点で、少数ではあっても DTrace や ZFS の開発に携わった
元 Sun の優秀な技術者が Illumos に参加してるのは心強い。

もっとも、Illumos の開発に当たっては信頼性・パフォーマンス・互換性を重視し
新機能の追加に関しては保守的なスタンスをとるということらしい。
まぁこれは伝統的に Solaris が重視してきたことだし、
またそれが期待されていたことでもあるだろうしな。
