googleearthを起動しようとしたところ

$ googleearth
Warning: Unable to create prefs directory '/home/foo/.googleearth'. ファイルが存在します.

Error: Unsupported depth 0... exiting

となってしまい起動しません。どうすればいいでしょうか。
FreeBSD7.0Rでportsは最新のものです。
